Sinersys - Wind Energy Collector

Press release

The "Silo Eolico" L. Biagini Patent consists in a cylindrical shell of 1,5 mm thick sheet of galvanized steel, erected on a beton Basement, having 2 peripherical openings of given dimension, provided with movable directional wringlets to allow incoming wind streams to establish a vortex inside the tower.
The openings are set apposite each other towards the 2 main wind directions, and are divided in sections provided with lock-gates.
The incoming air is packed by vortex force to the peripherical wall, leaving at center a zone of low pressure. Ducts entering the tower through the basement, connected with external eolic field, end up into the low pressure zone, so that an increase of their air speed is obtained, by the suction effect of pressure Δ.

It has been experimentally confirmed with tests on scaled models adimensionally built at same Reynolds number, that an "Eolic Tower Biagini" equipped with BLC Diffusor of good aerodynamic efficiency, in a wind field of 6 m/sec, with same Rotor area, (i.e. 26 m diameter turbine), is able to collect 30 times more wind energy than a conventional "free stream" State of Art WEC.
The vertical axis turbine has no need of yawing, is provided with auto-pitch device, is supported by a central pillar from the basement, with drive shaft inside, does not suffer vibrations by tower wake. Basement contains also gearbox, generator and electrical controls.
Industrialists of the wind farm branch, decided to invest on a larger scale model, then in a pre-industrial prototype, shall have full know-how and technical support.

Dr. L. Biagini, a Researcher with long time duty at Industry and University commented the presentation: "Eolic Tower is the real strike, that may change the outlook of future wind Energy".
