Prices for EU DIRECTIVE
Italian law n. 488/1998, also known as "Carbon Tax", introduces the EU directive based on Kyoto's protocol.
Due to this law, the excise tax on gas for heat production, will increase in Italy from EUR 0.012/mc in 2006 up to EUR 0.1802/mc in 2010.
Despite of that, excise on gas used for electricity production (and cogeneration) will stay constant at at 0.00449 euro / mc until 2010 (data values and guidance in January 2006).

Recently, the so called Bersani Decree No 79/99 liberalized energy production and a new set of enacted laws allow individuals and companies to distribute medium pressure gas.
